Braveheart (1995)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 177m
Director: Mel Gibson
Cast: Mel Gibson, Sophie Marceau, Patrick McGoohan, Catherine McCormack

Synopsis:

William Wallace grows up hating the English and attempts to unite Scotland against them, but is betrayed by the nobles on his own side.

Review:

Inordinately long but gripping story, told with passion and commitment and lashings of gore in the battle scenes, presumably to bring the historical film up to date. It came at a time when Scottish moves towards devolution were at their height, and felt like a rallying cry as well as yet another interference by America in UK politics (not to mention history).
