Born Free (1966)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col/scope 95m
Director: James Hill
Cast: Virginia McKenna, Bill Travers, Geoffrey Keen

Synopsis:

An expat British couple in East Africa adopt a lion cub and watch over her as she grows to adulthood.

Review:

Based on the true story of George and Joy Adamson, this direct, well-meaning family fare struck a chord in the mid sixties as the world went crazy, and no doubt appealed to British audiences recently deprived of their colonies. The conservation message was well taken, too. John Barry contributed a catchy theme song, and a sequel, Living Free, followed in 1972, though with a different couple of actors.
