Blowing Wild (1953)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 90m
Director: Hugo Fregonese
Cast: Gary Cooper, Barbara Stanwyck, Ruth Roman, Anthony Quinn, Ward Bond

Synopsis:

An oil prospector in South America falls foul of Bandidos and an old flame who has married an old friend.

Review:

Agreeable Warners star vehicle, with 'A' grade production values and type casting. As Halliwell points out, it reminds you irresistibly of other films (Sierra Madre, Wages of Fear, High Noon), while the Tiomkin/Frankie Lane contribution foreshadows OK Corral. None of which diminishes one's enjoyment, of course, nor Stanwyck's turn as a 'no good' man-eater. Roman is largely wasted in an underwritten role as the kind of adventuress Hayworth, Bacall and Dickinson played in Hawks films. Bond gets the Tracy role as the reliable best friend.
