The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1989)

£0.00

Country: GB/GER
Technical: col 126m
Director: Terry Gilliam
Cast: John Neville, Eric Idle, Sarah Polley, Uma Thurman, Robin Williams

Synopsis:

The baron saves a town from the treachery of their governor with the Turks, by cheering them up with an account of his adventures.

Review:

Structurally shaky but visually stunning version of the well-known tales, full of humour and premonitions of death, and the same child's eye view as Time Bandits. In many ways the flipside of Brazil, with the triumph of fantasy its main theme, the production ran hugely over budget and could not hope to interest an eighties audience sufficiently in its fervid imaginings.
