Country: US/GB
Technical: col/2.35:1 97m
Director: Jerusha Hess
Cast: Keri Russell, J.J. Feild, Jennifer Coolidge, Bret McKenzie, Georgia King

Synopsis:

An American single woman, disappointed in love, embarks on a once in a lifetime holiday experience that will indulge her Austen obsession and perhaps enable her to meet her dream Mr Darcy.

Review:

The very illogicality of our heroine's position, staking everything on a fantasy, is of course apparent to her before the end, but in the meantime we are left to enjoy a tame romantic comedy which relies on fewer 'Austenisms' than one might expect for its laughs: the closest we come is a fundamental mispronunciation of 'largesse' and anachronisms amounting to carelessness. No matter, Russell is a sympathetically game comedienne and it passes the time agreeably enough.
