Antz (1998)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: Technicolor 83m
Director: Eric Darnell, Tim Johnson
Cast: Voices, Woody Allen, Dan Aykroyd, Anne Bancroft, Danny Glover, Gene Hackman, Jennifer Lopez, Sylvester Stallone, Sharon Stone, Christopher Walken

Synopsis:

A humble, not to say feckless, worker ant is conscripted into the army, becomes a phoney war hero, kidnaps the princess and ultimately discovers he has the makings of a leader.

Review:

Coming out at the same time as the much more Disney-fied A Bug's Life, this similarly themed, 'home under threat', insect adventure has a witty script that appeals to adults even more than children and in which Woody Allen, who voices the lead insect ('Z' - for Zelig?), must surely have had a hand. Graphically it is also more interesting, more exciting and more perilous, as any film would be that quotes from Starship Troopers!
