Review:
More a light-hearted caper movie than the conventional 'society in peril' Marvel scenario, this second outing for Ant-Man reveals it more than ever as a kind of Spiderman for grown-ups, with Peña and his fellow ethnic American cronies providing dubious comic relief. It's essentially a low-stakes battle with an uncommonly dweeby FBI antagonist conducted while trying to evade an equally inept tech dealer. At the same time, a former victim of one of Pym's technologies seeks to appropriate his shrinkable laboratory (a neat visual gag) at the very moment they hope to rendez-vous with Mrs Pym. All of which affords some touching scenes in amongst the jokes and micro/macro pursuits. Note: look out for the post-credit, which strikes an altogether more ominous note.
