As with Von Trier's The Idiots, different members of the group respond to the challenge with differing levels of commitment and, as in all things human, the toll on their lives takes varied forms. Vinterberg does not trivialise the issues - this is not a laugh out loud comedy - acknowledging that 'staying fresh' in work and at home is a challenge for all of us, and that Denmark has a drink culture that might not be too healthy. Another great Mikkelsen performance to rank alongside The Hunt.
