Animal Farm (1954)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col 75m
Director: John Halas, Joy Batchelor
Cast: Maurice Denham, voices

Synopsis:

Oppressed by their dissipated owner, the animals of Manor Farm revolt and install a new order based on principles of communality. However, new oppressors come from within their midst.

Review:

Orwell's fable is given faithful treatment with only one or two Disneyesque touches, and the animation is fully the equal of that standard. Some of the scenes still pack a punch in the way they depict the uncompromising nature of the material, but there is a tacked-on retribution ending with which the author might have had issue.
