American Graffiti (1973)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: Techniscope 110m
Director: George Lucas
Cast: Richard Dreyfuss, Ronny Howard, Paul le Mat, Charlie Martin Smith

Synopsis:

Modesto, 1962: high-school grads spend one last night cruising the strip before heading for college: it is the end of an era, and they don't know it.

Review:

A key film of the seventies: unlike the other early films by the new Hollywood directors (De Palma, Scorsese, Bogdanovich) it didn't go all French New Wave or experimental, but went back to Americana, rock 'n' roll and fast cars with winged fenders, to youth culture in a word. As such it heralded a new New Hollywood cinema, one we would be stuck with for quite some time. Of itself, it is smart, hip and has looks to kill. It also ushered in some significant new acting talent.
