An 'old man and the sea' tale, alright, and we don't even have the company of our leading man's voice on the soundtrack. Aside from the occasional and discreet music, this is an ascetic cinematic experience indeed, but one which quickly absorbs the viewer and condenses our appreciation of Man's precarious place in the universe. For the 78 year-old star, on screen every step of the way, it is a towering confirmation of his godlike status.
