Alive (1993)

£0.00

Country: US/CAN
Technical: col 127m
Director: Frank Marshall
Cast: Ethan Hawke, Vincent Spano

Synopsis:

A plane carrying the Uruguay rugby team across the Andes crashlands, stranding survivors high up in the mountains. Exposed, and with minimal resources, they must resort to cannibalism to survive and make a bid for civilization.

Review:

True story or no, why anyone would want to make a film about this is beyond me, much less Spielberg's production partner. He and his actors pull it off surprisingly well, with an impressively orchestrated crash, and the agonising choice they make handled with sensitivity. But it's a gruelling ride.
