Airplane II: The Sequel (1982)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 85m
Director: Ken Finkleman
Cast: Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, William Shatner

Synopsis:

Ted Striker, the conflicted pilot from Airplane!, is flying a passenger shuttle to the Moon when it veers off towards the Sun. As Elaine helps him pull through the situation, we see flashbacks to court proceedings investigating the events of the first film.

Review:

Pushing the envelope somewhat with its central premise, this follow-up had nothing to do with the Zucker/Abrahams team, which does not prevent it reusing most of the same gags. Its major laugh-out-loud moment comes when William Shatner steps out from behind what we assumed was a TV monitor, though even this is a foregrounding of the 'taking the washing out of the drums' idea that took place in the control tower of Airplane!
