4 Aventures de Reinette et Mirabelle (1987)

£0.00

Country: FR
Technical: col 99m
Director: Eric Rohmer
Cast: Joëlle Miquel, Jessica Forde, Marie Rivière, Fabrice Luchini, Philippe Laudenbach

Synopsis:

Two kindred souls, one town, one country but both named after fruits, share a series of adventures: L'heure bleue tells of a legendary moment of silence just before dawn in the country (shades of Le rayon vert); Le garçon de café, marvellously played by Laudenbach ('J'ai l'oeil, moi'), is the funniest episode; Le mendiant, la kleptomane et l'arnaqueuse takes a light look at the girls' different moral attitudes, with a hustler (Rivière) wanting 7 francs 60; La vente du tableau, with Luchini as the dealer, is a neat little sketch showing the solidarity of the friends.

Review:

Slighter than usual Rohmer, exploring how two friends with quite differing outlooks essentially belong to each other, this entertaining film tellingly captures the distinct modes of speech of the two main characters.
