Country: FR
Technical: col/2.35:1 111m
Director: Olivier Marchal
Cast: Daniel Auteuil, Gérard Depardieu, André Dussolier, Valéria Golino, Daniel Duval

Synopsis:

Rivalry between two senior police officers reaches crisis point when the one's best friend is killed through the other's recklessness during the apprehension of an infamous gang of security van robbers.

Review:

Echoes of Luc Besson and Michael Mann are rife in this hi-octane policier which also recalls L'Addition. There is plenty of violence, much of it done to women, dollops of sentiment and the spectacle of two of the country's finest reunited. Neither of them quite convinces as tough, resolute cop and venal, cowardly cop, but they are still worth watching and technical values are high on the production side. The film is the first by the erstwhile officer Marchal, who is said to have wanted to get away from the hazards of the service; on this evidence well he might. There is also an appearance by the once magnificent Mylène Demongeot, as a retired prostitute; it's commendable the way French cinema finds work for its former glamour pusses.
