3 Women (1977)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 123m
Director: Robert Altman
Cast: Sissy Spacek, Janice Rule, Shelley Duvall, Robert Fortier

Synopsis:

Two misfit Texan women working in a health farm in California rent a flat from a would-be gunslinger whose expectant wife paints murals in swimming pools depicting the repression of women by rampant masculinity.

Review:

Watching these two actresses (Janice Rule does nothing really except paing and give birth) play mentally deficient weirdos for two hours is more than most of us can bear. The dividends are meagre, but the upshot is that Spacek takes over Duvall's identity - and apartment - and the baby is still-born. Altman certainly made 'em cheap, but even his producer must have gulped at this piece of pseud's heaven, which seems to have been fed by generous viewings of Bergman's Persona.
