The Witches of Eastwick (1987)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 118m
Director: George Miller
Cast: Jack Nicholson, Cher, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer, Veronica Cartwright

Synopsis:

Three witches summon up the Devil to liven up their staid provincial town, but have they taken on too much?

Review:

Updike's satire is swamped in spectacle, too nasty to be funny, and the actors are reduced to parodying themselves. The colour is flat and muddy, possibly for the effects' sake, but the direction is lively enough to make a few scenes worth a look. On the whole, though, an empty tour of ILM's box of tricks.
