Review:

Like Glengarry Glen Ross, Chandor's exposé of the 2008 crash lays bare the rot beneath the 'healthy competitive spirit' at the heart of the American Dream, and is also actorly heaven. As we keep them company during twenty-four hours of crisis, we gain an insight into the uncommon lives of these characters for whom numbers have become simply that, rather than representing actual goods and livelihoods. Some attempt to fool themselves, or their listeners, with casuistry; others are more or less conscience stricken by the extremes to which they must go to survive; but the only grief is felt by the one who must bury his dog.
