The Kid Stays in the Picture (2002)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 93m
Director: Nanette Burstein, Brett Morgen
Cast: doc.

Synopsis:

How New York businessman Robert Evans rose from playing a bit part in The Sun Also Rises to being the top producer at Paramount; and how a series of misfortunes befell him subsequently, culminating in his name being associated with a drugs case.

Review:

Despite the airbrushing possibilities of such self-portraiture this is a remarkably candid, though somewhat adoring - it's true, account of the boy wonder's charmed career through Rosemary's Baby, Love Story, Chinatown, The Godfather etc. until the débâcle of The Cotton Club and beyond. The doubtless numerous affairs are barely touched upon, but then that's not such a bad thing, and there is an abundance of documentary/home movie footage provided by the man himself.
