The Gingerbread Man (1998)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: CFI 114m
Director: Robert Altman
Cast: Kenneth Branagh, Embeth Davidtz, Robert Downey Jnr, Daryl Hannah, Robert Duvall, Tom Berenger, Famke Janssen

Synopsis:

While a hurricane rages, a Savannah lawyer buoyed by years of success nearly loses everything through his involvement with a waitress, who is apparently being persecuted by her cult leader father.

Review:

Cleverly disguising its femme fatale as the eponymous fairytale sweetmeat, while setting up its impulsive hero, this dark and implausible thriller largely wastes its star cast and spins a yarn so tenuous and convoluted as to dumbfound even this author's 'litigophile' fans. Altman shoots few close-ups and fails to draw us in to his characters, forgetting he is not doing one of his satirical exposés.
